You look around and most everyone you see is climbing. Climbing for a better job, climbing for a higher salary, climbing for more prestige. Awards, accolades, social media followers. A constant pursuit of more.

There was a time when you saw all this climbing and you might have been inspired. You might have even called it, approvingly, hustle.

But now all that climbing is starting to look more like frantic scrambling — fingernails scraping against rock, legs churning on steep, crumbling ground. Step back a little more and the scrambling looks like a bunch of people stranded in a vast ocean just trying to keep their heads above water.

You now feel called to something different. You feel called to something deeper. You sense, intuitively, that there is a more meaningful way to live.

You may have felt this way for a while now, perhaps years or even decades, but somewhere along the line you put the prospect of that life on hold because you had to get through this one thing first. That one thing became another, and another. You might have told yourself you’d allow yourself to be happy after you accomplished X. (And then Y, and Z, and X again…)

Are you ready now to stop climbing and, instead, go deeper? Contentment — and dare we say happiness? — await.

You can dive right in on your own. That works for some people. But for others, having a guide is the key to committing to the process and finding what you seek.

This is our work and our purpose. We help people like you live joyous, soulful lives of depth, meaning, and purpose.

 Our Services

Coaching

We help you identify your values, goals, and gifts, and then co-design concrete steps to manifest the life you want to be living; we work with you to uncover your blind spots and limiting beliefs in order to navigate past them; we help you set up systems to maintain or create order in your life and work; we are an engaged sounding board for new ideas and possibilities; we help you accomplish your goals; we help you realize your full potential!

You will have a 2:1 coach-to-client relationship with Kyle and Julia. You will talk to us often — at least once a week — to get inspiration, feedback, and accountability as you develop strategies to deepen your experience of life. We generally work with our clients for a year or longer (though there is no contract or time commitment required).

Our clients are often where they want to be in life, and they are ready to go deeper. We think of life and work holistically, so plenty of attention is paid to related parts of life like your health, finances, spirituality, and community.

We are big picture thinkers who don’t overlook the details— we provide practical solutions to transform your goals and dreams about how life “could be” into reality.

Mentoring

Our Mentoring is similar to our Coaching but is for when you’d simply like to have someone in your corner who’s “been there before”. You may not feel ready to go all the way to the deepest depths, but you still want to explore!

Everyone naturally learns life lessons in the process of living, but a lot of struggle and heartache can be avoided by working with someone who’s been there before and can act as a sentinel, pointing out challenges before you are even aware of them.

You will have a 1:1 relationship with either Julia or Kyle. We will talk at least once a month, sometimes more often. Mentoring is meant to be a long-term relationship, not a quick fix.

The goal of mentoring is eventually to get to meaning and purpose, but it’s a gradual process. Mentoring can involve working on issues like your current work, a future career, your finances, your health, your family, your love life, your friendships, and your spirituality. Each of these elements, as well as others not listed, often change during the course of your life. What is true for you at 25 most likely will not be true at 35!

Group Coaching

For many people, 1:1 coaching works best. It provides plenty of individual attention and an opportunity often missing in modern life — to really be heard. We love individual, personalized coaching, and we also recognize that for some people, a group setting is more comfortable and productive.

In our group, you will get plenty of attention, and you will connect with a cohort of people working through their own challenges. Each session is centered on a theme, which gives us a loose framework within which our connection can meander.

Our group work offers you community building and accountability, three times a month. The experience is on Zoom and sometimes includes emails and group texts between sessions; the session includes light facilitation and the ability to tailor the conversation to our collective needs. You can join for any month that works for you!

Julia currently runs these groups, though occasionally we have a larger group or a specific theme that Kyle joins.

Group coaching has been on Fridays, but is currently on hold. Check back here in a bit, or contact us to ask about future dates.

Some Notes on Therapy, Coaching, & Consulting

Many people are unsure what the difference is between therapy, coaching, and consulting. Here’s our answer:

THERAPY is concerned with mental health, often focusing on emotional or behavioral problems in order to help you live a functional life. Traditionally the relationship has been hierarchical, with the therapist in the role of expert and the client in the role of the person being “fixed”, though that hierarchical model has began to change in recent years. We do not offer therapy, though we definitely recommend it to people who can benefit from it. Many of our clients have previously worked with a therapist before working with us, or continue to work with a therapist while working with us. Coaching and therapy are completely compatible.

COACHING is concerned with helping “functional” people function even better. The relationship is one of equals working together to further the client’s goals. While therapy is focused on healing, our coaching is focused on transformation.

CONSULTING is concerned with producing specific results based on the consultant’s expertise. Sometimes the consultant just does the work themselves, and sometimes the consultant transfers knowledge to the client (i.e. does the work while teaching the client how to do the work).

Our Coaching and Mentoring services are a combination of coaching (transformation) and consulting (getting results based on our expertise). The balance between coaching and consulting we bring to an individual client depends on your needs and preferences.

If you have worked with a coach before, or have talked to other coaches, you have most likely come across the wide variety of coaching available today: “wellness” coaching, “life” coaching, “spiritual” coaching, “leadership” coaching, “executive” coaching…

While such niche approaches may prove useful to some, we find that our clients are interested in working on the totality of their lives, not a small part of it. So our coaching includes aspects of all the above approaches (and more), but is not limited to any of them.

Though we have learned and can utilize “coaching techniques”, we are not focused on technique. We are focused on relationships. It’s why our clients tend to work for us for years rather than weeks, and why they feel transformed by the work. Such transformation is rarely possible in a month, or three months.

About Us

The most important thing in coaching is your relationship with your coach(es). You want to feel as confident in them as you would with a guide taking you to the top of Mt Rainier or the bottom of the Marianas Trench. You want to know they’ve been there before and have an intimate knowledge of the landscape.

We’ve explored the world and our own depths quite a bit, and we bring that experience to our coaching.

We’ve been through career failures and triumphs; through medical emergencies and successful health recoveries.

We’ve run 45 miles in one day (really!), hiked across the Colorado Rockies from Denver to Durango, and rested for days on end when that’s what we needed.

We’ve been through a difficult childbirth and the challenges of raising a young child. We’ve sat in meditation retreat with nothing to do for hour upon hour except be present with our depths.

We’ve climbed and hustled at times and we’ve now opted for something different than the pursuit of more.

We have not mastered life, though we are happy with how ours is going. We have to “do the work” to get and maintain the life we want to live, though we believe that effortless effort rather than strain is the best approach.

In our own lives, we’ve worked with psychotherapists, meditation teachers, psychedelic guides, coaches and other practitioners, and we continue to ask for support when we need it!

We value ongoing education and are continually seeking out trainings, teachings, and good books that help us in our own personal work and our work with our clients. We’re not done exploring.

We believe a growth mindset is necessary to any success you will have in working with us.

We think our society devalues support, and that that is tragic. Bootstraps are for putting on your boots, not for levitation. We all need help.
